Arsenal produced a commanding performance on the road, defeating Club Brugge 3–0 and making it six wins from six in this season’s Champions League campaign. The result leaves Mikel Arteta’s side on the brink of automatic qualification to the round of 16, with two matches still to play.
Noni Madueke led the charge with two excellent goals — one a brilliant solo effort — while Gabriel Martinelli added a stunning strike of his own to seal a dominant night for the Gunners.
Bright Start From a Rotated Arsenal Side
Mikel Arteta made several changes to his starting lineup for the club’s first-ever meeting with Club Brugge. With defensive absences stacking up, Christian Nørgaard shifted from midfield to partner Piero Hincapié at centre-back.
Arsenal controlled possession early, and Martin Ødegaard forced a diving save inside the first three minutes. Hincapié then came close to scoring when he redirected a Myles Lewis-Skelly shot off the post. Viktor Gyökeres also headed wide as Arsenal continued to apply pressure.
Brugge, however, grew into the game. New manager Ivan Lenko — returning to the dugout after Nicky Hayen’s departure — watched his side threaten late in the half. David Raya produced multiple stops, including an excellent low save from Christos Tzolis just before halftime.
Madueke’s Brilliance Breaks the Deadlock
The opener arrived courtesy of individual magic from Noni Madueke. Picking up the ball just inside the Brugge half, he powered forward, shrugged off challenges, cut inside, and unleashed a thunderous left-footed strike from 25 yards into the top corner.
It was his second Champions League goal in successive matches.
Arsenal nearly doubled the lead through Hincapié and Gyökeres, but Brugge held on until the interval.
Second-Half Surge
Arsenal wasted no time extending their lead after the restart. Within two minutes, Martin Zubimendi hit the byline and delivered a wicked cross that eluded the goalkeeper, leaving Madueke to head in from close range for his second of the match.
Moments later, Gabriel Martinelli etched his name into club history. Cutting in from the left, he danced past a defender and arrowed a right-footed rocket into the far top corner. With that goal, he became the first Arsenal player to score in five consecutive Champions League games.
The away supporters had more to celebrate when Gabriel Jesus made his long-awaited return after 332 days out with an ACL injury. He nearly crowned his comeback with a goal, striking the crossbar and later forcing a save following clever buildup play.
Sixteen-year-old Marli Salmon also made his senior debut, becoming the fourth youngest player to ever represent Arsenal.
Despite late efforts from Brugge, the Gunners remained in control to close out a resounding win.
